Social Event Registration is available on the IETF76 meeting site at a fee of 40 USD/person. Children and spouses are welcome. Participants are limited to 600 due to venue space restrictions. The Social will introduce you to the cuisine, culture and hospitality of the Hiroshima area giving you an opportunity to experience making okonomiyaki, tasting "sake" from the famous Saijo Sake Breweries, participating in a traditional tea ceremony and experiencing performances of several traditional Japanese groups from the local area.
Performances include "taiko" drummers and an introduction to the traditional Japanese "koto" (a harp-like instrument). Attendees will also be able to learn the art of "origami" (paper folding) and given the opportunity to fold a traditional paper crane.
A wonderland illuminating Peace Boulevard directly in front of the IETF venue with 1.2 million LED lights. Typically held in December, the City of Hiroshima has graciously extended this event to begin from the start of the IETF Meeting period.
E-cycle Hiroshima is a pilot program to promote bicycle use and to provide a convenient means of transportation for foreign and domestic tourists. During the period, we will evaluate the effectiveness of community bicycles and identify any problems in inplementing a full scale program.
