While there are many restaurants available within a walking distance, some people may want to have a quick lunch without spending time to walking outside the venue. In the ANA Hotel, two types of lunch boxes (sandwich based one and rice bowl, changed daily) will be provided at 1,000 JPY. There is no vegetarian menu in this case.

The ANA Hotel also offers a quick lunch menu inthe 1F cafe at 1,300 JPY as well as special menu (1,500 JPY and 2,500 JPY) at the 22F Italian Restaurant "La PLATINE", 5F Japanese Restaurant "UNKAI", and 5F Chinese Restaurant "TAO-LI". In the evening, 500 JPY "one-coin" drinks are offered in the 1F Lobby Bar "Apres-Voir". You can enjoy a 10% discount on the regular lunch and dinner menus by showing your IETF badge to the restaurant staff.

For those who stay at the ANA Hotel, breakfast is served from 06:30-10:00 JST in either the 1F Cafe "FRUITIER" (Japanese and western buffet) or the 5F Japanese restaurant "UNKAI" (Japanese menu). IETF attendees may also choose 22F Italian restaurant "La PLATINE" (western buffet) from 07:00-1000 JST.

Oriental Hotel offers a 20% discount, the Rihga Royal Hotel offers a 15% discount, and the Hotel Granvia Hiroshima offers a 10% discount in their various restaurants and bars by showing your IETF badge.

Friendly warning: all IETF hotels and the ANA venue will smell distinctly like okonomiyaki from Tuesday onward.

There are a few computer shops in Hiroshima region, however, they are not specialized to carry cool stuffs which can often be seen in Akihabara. They are comparable to ex-CompuUSA or BestBuy in US. They are convenient stores to buy missing parts such as UTP cables, USB dongles, power adaptors, iPhone accessories, and so on. Please note in advance the followings:

• Laptop computers including Macs sold in Japan are with Japanese keyboards whose layout is slightly different, and with Japanese version of OS. In Mac, you can change the language easily, but according to Apple Japan's policy the retailers don't carry US keyboard version of Macbooks.
• DVD sold in Japan usually encoded as region-2, NTSC. Blu-ray is region-A.
• Softbank sells iPhone3GS with contract. No cellphone sold in Japan is SIM-free. By the way, while it depends on roaming contract of your carrier, you may be able to use your iPhone in Japan. Make sure to disable data roaming as soon as you turn on your iPhone in Japan unless you are rich enough to pay the big bill.

Opens 10:00-20:00 daily.

Opens 10:00-22:00 Mon-Sat, 10:00-21:00 Sun and Holidays.

There are several grocery stores accessible on foot from the venue:

• Fuji Grand
Open 9am through 10pm while other tenants open 9am through 9pm daily. About 10 min. on foot from the venue. Cross the main street (Heiwa Odori) in front of the ANA Hotel, and walk along Heiwa Odori to your left (or East) until you see a Seven-Eleven convenience store on Heiwa Odori. Make a sharp right at the corner of the Seven-Eleven, and you will see Fuji Grand on your left.
• Sun Mall
Open 10:30 am through 8:30 pm daily. About 8-10 min. on foot from the venue. Walk to your right from the ANA Hotel, and you will see another big street with a tram (Rijo Dori). Make a right and go along Rijo Dori to the North. Cross Rijo Dori at an appropriate light and walk to north along Rijo Dori. After you have passed by KFC, make a left, and you will see the entrance of Sun Mall. The grocery store is on the B1F.
• Okazu Kobo (dish factory, if translated to English)
Opens 9:30am through 10pm daily. About 10min on foot from the venue. Cross Heiwa Odori and Rijo Dori (diagonal to the ANA Hotel), then go south along Rijo Dori to the 4th traffic light. You will see Okazu Kobo on your right.
